2008 Ulster Trials Championship incorporating the

Lunneys Electrical for Sanyo Grade A Championship

 

 

The tenth and final round of the Lunneys Electrical for Sanyo Grade A Ulster Trials Championship took place on Saturday 12th April at Drumkeeragh Forest. With the title already won with a near perfect season, Harold McQuaid was not in attendance and his absence gave the opportunity to Gareth Andrews and Sean Doyle to fight for the win and runner up position in the championship. It was Gareth who shone on the day with a 30 mark advantage at the end to confirm second in the championship with Sean ending the season in third.

In Grade B, William Dickey Jnr took a convincing win over Jordan Scott with his total of 33, well clear of Jordan on 51 marks lost. This was enough to see Dickey take the championship from Scott in second Samuel McCallion had his best result of the season in third

With Paddy Lowry unable to score points in Grade C, Michael McCosh took the win on the day from Michael Davidson. This time the gap was tighter with Michael McCoshs score of 39 two better than Michael Davidson. Robbie Jennings took third on the day and second in the championship

Grade D saw the closest result with Keith Lappin and Colin Bell tied on 6 marks each. In the end Lappin took the wins by virtue of most cleans. George Robinson lost an unfortunate five on the third lap which pushed him down to third.

 

In Youth A, Andrew Gault took the win and the championship on 26 marks despite a deteriorating Gas Gas towards the end of the event. Despite identical second, third and fourth laps, Jonathan Lunney took second from Sasha Turkington with a better opening lap and with it took second in the championship.

Youth B saw the end of the season long battle of Ryan Dempster and Ryan Sailes. Dempster lost only 4 marks to Sailes on 11. This was the order the championship finished with Gareth Mackey ending the day on 13 marks.

Jake Hanlon took the win in Youth C and the championship with a convincing win over Alex Lennox. Third place on the day and in the standings was Karl Scott.

In Youth D Josh Hanlon was unable to take the championship despite the absence of Ross Pyper. He did win on the day however with a score of 60 marks.
